WhatsApp Business API Malta
What the API is, Meta fees and when a chatbot needs it.
Systems & automation · WhatsApp
A WhatsApp chatbot for a Malta business has three cost layers: setup, Meta’s per-message fees, and running care. This guide shows each layer with a monthly estimator. Paste live Meta rates, or load a labelled EXAMPLE for market “Other” (+356). Malta Digital builds chatbots scoped per project.

Malta Digital prices WhatsApp chatbots per project after scoping. Budget three layers: setup (custom builds from €7,500), Meta per-message fees by category and market, and monthly care. For Malta numbers (+356), Meta’s rate card maps to market Other, not Rest of Western Europe. Use the estimator below with rates from Meta’s pricing page, then apply on our WhatsApp chatbot Malta page if you want a scoped quote.
What you pay
People searching for WhatsApp chatbot cost in Malta usually want a euro figure. The honest answer is a stack, not one line. First comes setup: flows, approved answers, templates and connections to booking or CRM. Second come Meta’s per-message fees when your business delivers messages. Third comes running cost: hosting, small changes and watching the inbox.
Malta Digital builds on Meta’s official WhatsApp Business Platform. We price setup per project after we see your volumes and systems. Custom systems and chatbots start from €7,500. For the product shape, start on our WhatsApp chatbot for Malta businesses page, then return here for the fee maths.
Meta’s own docs (updated 30 September 2026, rates effective 1 October 2026) charge per delivered business-to-user message by category and market. User messages to you are free. That is why a quiet month and a busy sales month rarely cost the same.
Meta fees today
On 6 November 2026 we opened Meta’s WhatsApp pricing page and the EUR list-rates card. Malta is not listed as its own row. Calling code +356 falls under Other. Rest of Western Europe is a different region with different rates — do not use those figures for local Malta numbers.
| Category | EXAMPLE rate / delivered msg | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Marketing | €0.05 | Offers and newsletters to opted-in customers |
| Utility | €0.0064 | Reminders, confirmations, order updates |
| Authentication | €0.0064 | One-time codes |
| Service | €0.0064 | Replies inside the 24-hour window (after free tier) |
Free rules that cut the bill: each business phone gets 1,000 free service messages per month; Click to WhatsApp ad chats can open a free entry point window where marketing, utility, authentication and service are uncharged. Meta Business Agent messages stay charged on a token model. Source: Meta WhatsApp pricing.

Estimator
Rates change on Meta’s calendar. Rather than hard-code numbers that go stale, this tool lets you paste rates from the rate card and add your counts. Prefer a quick demo? Load the labelled EXAMPLE for market Other. Maths stay on your device.
Paste Meta rates for your customers’ market, then add monthly counts. Optional: spread setup across months.
EXAMPLE fill uses Other-market EUR rates opened 6 Nov 2026. Always re-check Meta pricing before budgeting. JS-off: add (service after free tier × service rate) + (utility × utility rate) + (marketing × marketing rate).
Worked EXAMPLE (Other market rates, labelled): 1 number, 2,500 service replies, 800 utility, 400 marketing. Free service tier covers 1,000 replies, so 1,500 billable service × €0.0064 ≈ €9.60; utility ≈ €5.12; marketing ≈ €20.00; Meta fees ≈ €34.72 that month before setup and care. Your mix will differ.
Send how many chats you get and which systems must connect. We reply with a scoped range.
Proof
Chatbots work best when they sit next to real records. A childcare agency case study shows a CRM and booking platform that can feed confirmations and staff handovers. Names are withheld. Screens use sample data.

For a WhatsApp-first chatbot on that kind of stack, setup covers flows, approved answers, template review and the CRM link. Meta fees then follow live traffic. That is why we quote after scoping, not from a public price list alone.

Rules & data
Cost is only half the decision. WhatsApp’s Business Messaging Policy expects opt-in, honest automation and a clear path to a person. Personal data in chats is still personal data: follow GDPR and guidance from Malta’s IDPC, including a clear retention view and a way for people to exercise their rights.
Larger builds that include CRM, booking and automation may fit Digitalise your SME on fondi.eu, subject to eligibility and approval. The funding body decides. We can help map a project; we do not promise a grant outcome.
