Custom & Bespoke Software Development Malta | From €7,500

Business systems & custom software Malta

Custom software
and business systems
in Malta.

Malta Digital does custom software development for businesses in Malta and Gozo. We build booking systems, CRM, customer portals and internal tools around the way your team works. Projects start from €7,500, and you see a prototype before the full build.

Start with the daily problem

What a business system
can fix for you.

“Everything is in WhatsApp.”

Give the team one place to work.

Keep customer details, job updates and next steps together, with access suited to each person’s role.

“Someone has to handle every booking.”

Let customers book and get reminders.

Connect availability, booking details and confirmations so staff spend less time coordinating by phone.

“Customers keep calling for updates.”

Give them a useful customer portal.

Let customers see the information, documents and progress they need without waiting for someone to reply.

“We keep entering the same information.”

Connect the steps that belong together.

Move information between the right tools and reduce repetitive copying, chasing and reporting.

What we build

Types of business systems
we build.

Customer & staff portals

Logins, documents, updates and actions in one place. We define who can see and change what before building.

Booking & enquiry systems

Capture information, arrange appointments and move enquiries to the right person with fewer manual steps. For sales pipelines and follow-ups, see our custom CRM systems.

Internal tools & dashboards

Give your team a practical way to manage jobs, track work and find the information they need.

Custom software & integrations

Build a web application or connect existing tools when off-the-shelf options do not fit the workflow.

Automation & useful AI

Use automation for repeatable work and AI where it has a clear role, with human checks where they are needed.

How we build it

How we build your system,
step by step.

01

Map the work

Talk through the current process, the people involved and what needs to improve.

02

Agree & prototype

Set requirements and priorities. Review a working direction before the full build.

03

Build & test

Develop the agreed scope and test real tasks, permissions and integrations with your team.

04

Launch & hand over

Plan the rollout, train users and agree ongoing support. Complex software has its own timeline.

Grants for custom
software projects.

Two schemes can lower the cost of a custom system. Digitalise your SME covers up to 50% of eligible costs, or 60% in Gozo, for grants of €25,000 to €120,000 plus a 7% flat rate, and its guidance notes name ERP and CRM as enterprise systems. Micro Invest gives a tax credit of up to 65% of eligible costs, or 85% in Gozo, for businesses with up to 50 full-time staff; for custom software the agreement must be signed before work starts (2026 guidelines). Both checked on 3 November 2026. The funding bodies decide eligibility. See our Digitalise your SME guide.

Case studies

Custom systems we have built.

A CRM platform for a childcare agency, and a booking and dispatch system for a skip hire and waste business. Client names are withheld and the screens show sample data.

Childcare agency: one platform instead of messages, spreadsheets and email

Three connected parts: a command centre that shows the office what needs attention first, a portal for nannies and a booking app for parents. Every booking, nanny and parent has one record.

Skip hire: bookings and dispatch in one system

Three views. Customers book on their phone in seven steps, with a skip size helper. The office sees daily delivery and collection slots and assigns each job. Drivers see their jobs in order and mark each one done. Now being rolled out, so there are no results to share yet.

New: 60% tax credit (€120m). The government plans a 60% tax credit on eligible investment in AI, automation and digitalisation, with up to €15 million per business over four years, operational by the end of 2026. The full rules are not announced yet. What we know so far, plus a free checker →

A few straight answers

Questions about custom
software in Malta.

Do we need to know what software to ask for?

No. Start by explaining the work that is slow, repetitive or difficult to manage. We can help turn that into clear requirements.

Can you connect the tools we already use?

Often, yes. We check the available integrations, access and limitations before including the connection in a proposal.

How long does a custom system take?

It depends on the requirements, integrations and testing. We agree a timeline after discovery. The 24–48-hour first-version target for simple websites does not apply to custom systems.

Can we start with one part of the business?

Yes. A focused first phase can address a specific problem and let your team test the approach before expanding it.

What happens after launch?

We agree handover, training and the support arrangement before building. Hosting, maintenance and third-party services are set out separately where applicable.

Will the system be secure?

Security requirements are part of the scope, including access, permissions, data handling and backups. The implementation and testing depend on the information and processes involved.

What is bespoke software?

Bespoke software, also called custom software, is built for one business and the way it works. A ready-made app is the same for everyone. With bespoke software you get the screens, steps and reports your team needs, and you do not pay for features you never use.

How much does custom software development cost in Malta?

With us, a Custom Business System starts from €7,500 for one important part of your business. A Digitalisation Project starts from €15,000, an Advanced Business System from €20,000 and a Complete Growth & Automation System from €50,000. The final scope and price are agreed before work starts.

Is custom software better than ready-made software?

Not always. If a ready-made tool fits the way you work, use it, because it is cheaper to start. Custom software is worth it when your tools do not talk to each other, or staff copy the same details again and again. Read custom software vs off-the-shelf.

Can a grant help pay for a business system?

It may. Projects like this may qualify for co-funding under Malta’s digital transformation schemes, subject to eligibility, assessment and approval. Check the Digitalise your SME grant.

Do you build business systems for companies in Gozo?

Yes. We build business systems for businesses across Malta and Gozo. Calls, reviews and testing can happen online, so being in Gozo does not slow the project down.

Do we need an ERP or a CRM?

A CRM manages customers and sales. An ERP manages stock, orders and finance. Most service businesses start with a CRM; businesses that hold stock often need an ERP. Read ERP vs CRM and try the quick check.

What does a custom system cost to run each year?

Hosting, backups, support and fees from other services, such as text messages or payments. They depend on the system, so they are set out separately as a yearly figure. Use the cost planner on this page to see the total over several years.

Who should own the code and the data?

Agree it in writing before the build starts: who owns the code, the data and the documents, and what you receive if you ever change supplier. Clear answers matter more than a small difference in price.

Can Micro Invest help pay for a smaller system?

Often, yes. Micro Invest gives a tax credit of up to 65% of eligible costs, or 85% in Gozo, for businesses with up to 50 full-time staff. For custom software, the agreement listing what it will do must be signed before work starts.
