Facebook ads for beauty salons in Malta
Offers, Reels, WhatsApp bookings, Meta’s beauty ad rules and rebooking for salons.
Facebook & Instagram ads · Pet businesses
Facebook and Instagram ads suit pet businesses in Malta because owners love sharing and watching pets, and good pet content stops the scroll. The ads that bring customers sell one service at a time, such as a groom, a boarding stay, a training course or a food delivery, show real animals you have looked after, and make booking easy by form or WhatsApp. Meta restricts ads that sell live animals, so ads should be about services and products. Malta Digital runs Meta ads for local businesses and plans pet campaigns around your bookings and seasons.

Malta Digital runs these campaigns around your capacity and seasons.
Do they work
Yes, and better than for many other businesses, because pet content is something people actually want to see. A short video of a nervous terrier relaxing on the grooming table, or a row of happy dogs at daycare, gets watched to the end and shared with friends. That makes it cheaper to reach owners in your area and gives Meta plenty of signal about who is interested.
The money in most pet businesses is in repeat customers. A dog that is groomed every few weeks, a family that boards their cat every summer and at Christmas, or an owner who orders the same food every month is worth far more than a single sale. So the aim of the ads is not the most likes, but the owners who will come back.
Where pet ads go wrong is when they are all cute and no detail. A beautiful photo with “Book now!” leaves owners guessing what you offer, where you are and what it costs. The ads that convert are just as charming, but also say exactly what the service is and how to book it.
Four businesses
Groomers sell trust and time: owners want to know their dog will be handled calmly, which breeds and sizes you take, how long a visit takes and what it costs roughly. Boarding, daycare and pet sitting sell peace of mind while owners are at work or abroad: who looks after the animal, what the routine is and whether they can visit first. Pet shops sell range and convenience: the brands you stock, delivery and easy reorders. Trainers sell a solution to a problem: a puppy that bites, a dog that pulls or barks.
Each of these is a different campaign, with different pictures and a different next step. Many businesses in Malta do two or three, for example grooming and a small shop. Lead with the one that makes you the most money or has the most free capacity, and add the others once it is working. The table below shows how we would approach each.
Vet clinics are a special case. They follow their own professional rules on advertising, and their marketing is closer to a medical clinic’s than a shop’s. Our guide to Facebook ads for clinics covers that side.
| Business | What owners worry about | Ad that works | Best next step |
|---|---|---|---|
| Groomers | Will my dog be calm and safe, and how long will it take? | Short videos of real grooms, sizes and breeds you handle, how a visit works | Form with breed, size and coat, or WhatsApp with a photo |
| Boarding, daycare and sitting | Who looks after my pet while I am away, and can I check first? | Your real premises and routine, vaccinations needed, a visit before booking | Form with dates and pet details, well before the holidays |
| Pet shops | Do you have my brand, and can you deliver? | Products and brands you stock, local delivery, reorders | Shop page or WhatsApp order, with catalogue ads for online shops |
| Trainers | Can you help with my puppy or my dog’s behaviour? | Short clips of training methods, puppy classes, what a first session includes | WhatsApp or a short form describing the dog |
The rules
Meta’s Advertising Standards restrict ads that sell live animals. There are exceptions, for example for adoption and rehoming and some legitimate businesses, but selling puppies or kittens through ads is likely to be rejected and is best avoided. Facebook Marketplace and Shops do not allow live animals at all. Grooming, boarding, training, pet food, accessories and veterinary services are fine to advertise.
Keep claims honest. Pet food and supplement ads should not promise to cure illnesses, and training ads should not guarantee that a dog’s behaviour will change by a certain date. Our guide to rejected Facebook ads explains the review and what to do if an ad is stopped.
Photos of customers’ pets are wonderful creative, but ask the owner first, especially if the photo shows them, their home or their car. A simple question when they collect their dog (“Can we share Bella’s new look on Instagram?”) usually gets a yes, and many owners share the post themselves.
Creative
The best pet ads are filmed on your phone in your own premises. For groomers, a short before-and-after of a real groom, the calm moment on the table, or a quick explanation of a shave-down versus a trim. For boarding and daycare, the play area, the sleeping area and a normal day’s routine. For shops, the shelves, the brands people ask for and the van that delivers. For trainers, a few seconds of a dog learning to walk on a loose lead.
Show the people who will care for the pet as well, in your uniform and at work, not posed. Owners are handing over a family member, and seeing who will be with them matters. Avoid stock photos of perfect dogs on white backgrounds; owners scroll past them because they look like every online shop.
Put the practical detail in the text: the locality, the breeds or sizes you handle, opening hours, whether you collect, and how to book. A line like “Grooming for small and medium dogs in Swieqi, Tuesday to Saturday, book on WhatsApp” does more than three paragraphs about how much you love animals.

Proof
This is a lead generation campaign we ran on Facebook and Instagram from 1 May to 25 July 2026. It brought 478 form leads from €4,625.31 of ad spend, which is €9.68 per lead, on a €6.00 daily ad set budget. The screenshot is straight from Meta Ads Manager, with the ad set name blurred.

Seasons
Boarding and pet sitting in Malta follow the holidays. Demand peaks when residents travel, in summer and around Christmas and Easter, and the best places are booked weeks ahead. Start the ads early, well before each holiday, with a clear message about the dates and the vaccinations or trial visit you need, and stop them when you are full rather than paying for enquiries you will have to turn down.
Grooming often follows the weather. Many owners want a trim before the long hot months, and coats that need regular care keep groomers busy all year. A campaign for the spring and early summer, with a short reminder of why grooming matters in the heat, fits the way owners think. Avoid scaremongering; it puts owners off and can trip Meta’s review.
Pet shops have their own calendar: Christmas gifts for pets, back-to-routine food orders in September, and new puppy owners after the holidays. Our Black Friday and Christmas ads plan covers the busiest weeks for shops.
The booking
For groomers and boarding, a good enquiry tells you about the animal before it arrives. On a Meta instant form, ask a few short questions: type of pet and breed, size, coat condition or the service wanted, temperament with people and other dogs, vaccinations up to date, and preferred dates. Owners appreciate the questions, because they show you care about the animal, and you avoid surprises on the day.
Many owners in Malta would rather send a WhatsApp message with a photo of their dog, and for groomers that photo is often the best way to give a rough price. A click-to-WhatsApp ad makes that one tap. Use forms where you need the details to plan, such as boarding dates, and WhatsApp where a conversation and a photo do the job. Our guide to click-to-WhatsApp ads covers the setup.
Then reply the same day, and offer the next appointment at the end of every visit. Rebooking before the owner leaves is the cheapest marketing a groomer has; the ads find the customer, and good service keeps them.

Targeting and budget
Start broad within the area your customers come from and let the pet content do the work: people who love dogs will stop for a dog video. Most owners want a groomer, daycare or shop close to home, so an ad aimed at a few neighbouring localities, naming them, often beats one aimed at all of Malta. Boarding and online shops can go wider. Gozo usually needs its own campaign, or none.
Your existing customers are your best audience. With their consent, upload them as a customer list to remind them about the next groom or a holiday booking, or to exclude them from new-customer offers. Retargeting people who watched your videos or visited your booking page is cheap and effective for services owners think about for a while, such as boarding. Our guide to retargeting ads explains how.
Work the budget backwards from what a regular customer is worth over a year and how many enquiries become bookings. Our Facebook ads calculator does the maths. Ad spend is paid to Meta directly. Meta ads management from Malta Digital starts from €1,249 a month plus ad spend, excluding VAT, which suits pet businesses with the capacity to grow, such as busy grooming salons, boarding kennels and shops.
How we do it
We start by asking which service you want more of, how many bookings you can take, which localities your customers come from and what a regular customer is worth to you. Then we plan one campaign per service, film or edit ads with your real animals and team, set up a short form or a WhatsApp flow with the right questions and send every enquiry to you straight away. Each month you get a report of spend, enquiries and cost per enquiry from Ads Manager, and we ask how many became regular customers.
If you also want online booking, reminders for the next groom or a simple shop website, we build those too. Apply now and tell us about your pet business.
A few straight answers
Yes. Short videos of real grooms, the breeds and sizes you handle, your locality and an easy way to book by form or WhatsApp bring enquiries, and rebooking keeps customers coming back.
Meta restricts ads for the sale of live animals, with some exceptions such as adoption and rehoming, and Marketplace and Shops do not allow animals at all. Advertise services and products instead.
Well before the holidays, when residents travel: summer, Christmas and Easter. Say which dates you have, what vaccinations you need and stop the ads when you are full.
Yes, with the owner’s permission, especially if the photo shows them, their home or their car. Most owners are happy to say yes.
Pet and breed, size, the service wanted, temperament, vaccinations and preferred dates. Keep it short.
If you sell online with a product feed, catalogue ads can show the right products to the right people. Local shops without online ordering often do better with WhatsApp orders and delivery.
