Facebook & Instagram ads · Instagram cost
Instagram ads cost two things: the ad spend you pay to Meta, and a management fee if someone runs the ads for you. Malta Digital’s Instagram advertising is part of our Meta ads management from €1,249 a month plus ad spend, and the free planner below turns your own numbers into CPM, CPC and cost per result.

Instagram ads in Malta have no fixed price. You choose the budget and pay Meta directly. CPM (cost per 1,000 views) moves with your offer, creative, season and how many other businesses want the same people. Malta Digital runs Instagram ads as part of Instagram ads in Malta, from €1,249 a month plus ad spend.
Two bills
There is no price list for Instagram ads. You set a daily or lifetime budget in Meta Ads Manager. Meta charges that spend to your card. If an agency or freelancer runs the account, you also pay a management fee.
CPM means cost per 1,000 impressions. An impression is one time your ad was shown. CPC means cost per click. Cost per result is what you paid for one lead, booking or sale. Those three numbers move every day, because Meta runs an auction for each chance to show an ad.
This guide is about spend and fees. For formats, sizes and safe zones, use our Instagram ads in Malta page and the free format picker there. For Stories and Reels specs, see the Story ads guide and the Reels ads guide.
Planner
Type numbers from Ads Manager if you have run ads. If you have not, leave impressions and clicks blank and start with a careful spend and a fee quote. The planner shows CPM, CPC, cost per result and the all-in cost with a fee.
Work out CPM, CPC, cost per result and the all-in cost with a management fee. Numbers stay on your device.
This planner needs JavaScript. The formulas are written under it.
Formulas you can check by hand. CPM = spend ÷ impressions × 1,000. CPC = spend ÷ clicks. Cost per result = spend ÷ results. All-in cost per result = (spend + fee) ÷ results.
Real result
Here is a Facebook and Instagram campaign run by Malta Digital. From 1 January to 28 May 2026 it spent €95,470.88. Ads Manager tracked 9,085 website purchases worth €573,222.05. That is a 6.00 average ROAS. ROAS means return on ad spend: tracked sales divided by ad cost.

Read it the honest way. Tracked purchase value is not profit. The spend covers Facebook and Instagram together, not Instagram alone. Your shop, offer and margin will differ. The point of the screenshot is simple: judge ads by sales and cost, not by likes.
As a labelled example only, if that spend had been €15,000 in one quieter month with the same 6.00 ROAS, tracked sales would be about €90,000. Change the creative or the offer and the ROAS moves. That is why we plan budgets from your margin, not from a public “average CPM”.

CPM drivers
Audience size. Malta is small. A narrow age group in Sliema and St Julian’s runs out fast. The same people see the ad again and again, so CPM often rises unless you refresh the creative.
Season. Summer tourism and the weeks before Christmas bring more advertisers. More bidders for the same people usually means a higher CPM. Plan budget with those months in mind.
Creative. A clear offer in the first second beats a pretty picture with no next step. Tired ads raise CPM. Fresh Reels, Stories and feed ads bring it back down.
Placement mix. Reels, Stories and feed can cost differently on the same day. We test them together and move budget to the one that brings cheaper results, not the one with the cheapest CPM alone.
Competition. In 2024, 60.4% of Malta firms with 10 or more staff paid to advertise online (Eurostat, isoc_cismt, opened 5 Nov 2026). That is a crowded auction for a small island, so weak ads get expensive quickly.

Malta fact
In 2025, 82.4% of people in Malta aged 16 to 74 took part in social networks, against 67.3% across the EU (Eurostat, isoc_ci_ac_i, 2025, opened 5 Nov 2026). So a high Instagram ads cost in Malta is rarely about finding people. It is about creative, offer and follow-up in a busy auction.
In 2025, 88.2% of Malta enterprises with 10 or more staff used social media (Eurostat, isoc_cismt, opened 5 Nov 2026). Many of those firms also advertise. That is why we judge success by cost per result and sales, not by cheap reach.
| Number | What it means | When it is useful |
|---|---|---|
| Ad spend | What you paid Meta | Every week |
| CPM | Cost per 1,000 views | To spot creative fatigue |
| CPC | Cost per click | When the goal is traffic |
| Cost per result | Cost per lead or sale | The number that pays the bills |
| Fee | What you pay for management | Always keep it separate from spend |
Share your goal and any past spend. We’ll suggest a starting budget and show what the fee covers before you pay Meta a euro.
Management
Ad spend goes to Meta. The fee pays for strategy, tracking checks, ad copy, static creative, testing and reporting. Malta Digital’s Meta ads management, which includes Instagram, starts from €1,249 a month plus ad spend. You keep the ad account in your name.
Cheaper packages exist in Malta. They often cover fewer campaigns, skip creative or cap the spend they will manage. Compare what is included, not only the fee. Our what’s included in Facebook ads management checklist is built for that, and the pricing models are in Facebook ads management pricing.
For the full monthly Meta bill across Facebook and Instagram, see Facebook ads cost in Malta. Instagram is usually run from the same Ads Manager, so one fee covers both when we manage the account.
Budget
Start from the result you want, not from a round number. If you need 40 leads a month and a careful guess is €15 a lead, plan about €600 of ad spend before the fee. Then check that the daily budget can buy enough results for Meta to learn.
Meta’s learning phase usually needs about 50 results in the week after a big change (Meta Business Help: About the learning phase, opened 5 Nov 2026). Tiny daily budgets in a busy niche often stay stuck in learning, so costs swing.
A labelled example for a boutique in Valletta: €40 product margin, 1 in 10 clicks buys, so each sale can carry about €4 of ad cost before profit shrinks. If CPC is €0.40, that leaves room. If CPC is €1.20, the same shop needs a stronger offer or a warmer audience. These are example figures, not a promise.

A few straight answers
You choose the ad spend and pay Meta directly. CPM and cost per result depend on your offer, creative and season. Malta Digital’s management starts from €1,249 a month plus ad spend.
There is no honest single figure. Watch your own CPM week to week. A rising CPM with flat results usually means the creative is tired.
It changes by account and day. We run both from Ads Manager and move budget to the placement that brings the better cost per result.
No. Ad spend is paid to Meta. The fee covers the work of running the ads.
Start from the results you want and what one result can cost you. Keep enough budget for Meta’s learning phase, then judge after a few weeks.
Yes. Ads Manager is free to use. An agency makes sense when you want a proven process, creative help and clear reporting.
Boosts are simpler and often weaker for sales. On iPhone, boosting in the app can also add Apple’s fee; paying in Ads Manager on the web avoids it.
